A History of Style

Every woman has her own style, they are inspired by different people and celebrities. Some women follow trends, while others express themselves by their clothing. Some women have a more classic style inspired from Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, or Jackie Kennedy-Onassis. Other women like a more modern edgy look the may be inspired by Madonna, or Debbie Harry. There are so many women throughout history who are fashion icons.

The blog College Fashion has been running some great articles on celebrity inspired looks. If you want a more classic look, check out “A History of Style: Fashion Inspired by Louise Brooks,” written by Ashley from Flagler College. This story gives you looks inspired by the 1920′s with a modern twist. Ashley has also written about looks inspired by Amelia Earhart,whose look has masculine touches within it, using leather jackets and trousers.

Billie Holiday,is another classic fashion icon who wore a lot of headbands and dresses of black, red, and white were very popular in her wardrobe that is 1940′s inspired.

Joan Jett inspired style is more modern with a touch of 80′s rock. Skinny jeans, leather pants, graphic tee’s and Converse shoes are all part of her collection.

So whether you like a more classic look, or you like to have a more modern look, like wearing high-heels or sneakers, dresses or jeans,  there is a fashion icon to turn to. We can learn a lot from history.
